George Drake Obituary George "Boone" Drake December 13, 1931 - December 30, 2009 Newsoms - George "Boone" Drake, 78, died December 30, 2009 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was the only child of the late Spurgeon and Ruby Vick Drake. Mr. Drake was a retired farmer, a member of the Franklin Farmers Market, and a member of S&S Hunt Club. He was a member of the Newsoms Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Wall Drake; his daughter, Renea Drake-Porter and husband, Bobby, of Newsoms; and his faithful companion, Sandy. The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Wise and the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Newsoms Baptist Church, P. O. Box 312, Newsoms, Va. 23874.
