Raymond Davis Obituary Raymond Clyde Davis, Sr. July 31, 1932 - April 1, 2023 Courtland - Raymond Clyde Davis, Sr., 90, departed this life on April 1, 2023 with his beloved family by his side. He was born July 31, 1932 to the late Susie Miles and Elisha Davis. He was also predeceased by many beloved brothers and sisters. Raymond also missed his precious pet Happy Cat. Raymond was born and raised in Branchville, VA on Davis Lane and graduated from Boykins High School. In 1957, he moved to Courtland and bought his first farm and began raising his family. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. Raymond was a self-made man who was the owner, founder, and President of Davis and Sons, Inc. One of his favorite hobbies was managing bands with his sons. Also, he and Peggy loved traveling to Atlantic City to play black jack. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Peggy Lowe Davis, sons Raymond Clyde Davis, Jr. and wife Debbie, Jeff Davis and wife Lou Anne, daughters Ginnie Carr and husband Merrell, Garnet Gilmore and husband Gary, Velvet White and husband Jim, and Melissa Rose and husband Jerry, six grandchildren, Patricia Davis (Mary Ann), Elizabeth McCoy (Adam), Sarah Vaughan (Bret), Sonny Davis (Marisa), Adam Gilmore, and Amber Rae Alcaraz, and five great grandchildren, Jackson Railey, Lillian Davis, Staton Davis, Brylie Vaughan, and Maisy Davis. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Wright Funeral Home on Thursday, April 6 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Courtland. A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations can be made to Courtland Volunteer Fire Department or Courtland Volunteer Rescue Squad in his memory.
