RUFUS E. DARDEN.  

The funeral of Rufus E. Darden, 69, well-known farmer of Southampton County, who died at his home in the Sveamore community on Tuesday, 1 December 1931, was held in Sycamore Baptist Church Thursday afternoon, 3 December 1931, at 3:30 o'clock. Interment was made in the family plot.  

Besides his widow, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert Hall of Newark, N.J., three sons, Rufus H. Darden of University of Richmond and Charles and Bennie Darden of Franklin; one brother, Richard Darden of New York City, and one sister, Mrs. W.M. Cobb of Franklin.  

The services will be conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Gordon Price, assisted by the Rev. L.F. Paulette of Smithfield, the Rev. E. Norfleet Gardner of Drum, N.C., and the Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin.
