She was a daughter of the late Thomas Gould and Sarah Parker Hedgepeth. Mrs. Darden had retired as a newspaper carrier for the Suffolk News Herald and was a Baptist. She was also predeceased by one daughter, Betty Jane Darden; two step-sons, George Darden and William Edward Darden; two sisters, Edith Vasser and Daisy Cutchins and seven brothers, Horace, Elliott, Clifton, Cristy, James, Lloyd and William Hedgepeth. Survivors include two grandchildren, Patty O Neal (Ralph) and George Darden; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca Dunn, Kim Cullipher, Amber O Neal, and Emily Darden and several great-great grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with the Rev. Micah Voight officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.
