Burial followed in church cemetery. ## Transcript Martha Catherine Parker 12 MAR 1874 - 4 FEB 1948 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs. Darden, 73, Dies at Carrsville FRANKLIN, Feb. 1 — Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Catherine Darden, 73, who died yesterday [4 FEB 1948] at her home in Carrsville after an illness of a few weeks, will be held tomorrow afternoon [6 FEB 1948] at 2:30 at the Colosse Baptist Church. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jack Boyle, pastor of the Colosse Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Darden, a member of the Colosse Baptist Church, was the daughter of James and Martha Griggs Parker, of Nansemond County. Besides her husband, William W. Darden, Mrs. Darden is survived by three daughters, Mrs. R. T. Harrison and Mrs. A. J. Cobb, of Newport News, and Mrs. W. S. Barrett, of Chuckatuck; four brothers, W. E. Parker of Walters, Richard Parker, of Smithfield, Thomas Parker, of Suffolk, and J. T. Parker, of Carrsville; two sisters, Mrs. Goode Hedgepeth, of Carrsville, and Mrs. Mary Slavin, of Suffolk; 15 grandchildren and all great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
