Marguerite was born March 14, 1932 in Branchville, Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Joseph William (Bill) Cutchins and by her parents Luther Godwin Smith and Libbie Davis Smith DeLoatche, grandson Zachary C. Cutchins, brother-in-law E. Charles Cutchins, sister Joyce S. Stanley, brother Godwin L. Smith and niece Yvonne S. Turner. She is survived by her children, William D. Cutchins (Tammy), Kevin S. Cutchins (Rosalind), and Beverly "Boo" C. Van Straten (Michael) and five grandchildren, Alexis Cutchins, Nicholas Cutchins, Kelsey C. Beard (Andrew), Lindsay Cutchins and Jack Van Straten. She is also survived by a niece Denise S. Rountree and nephew Dale G. Smith. Marguerite graduated from Boykins High School and Longwood College majoring in Business Education. She taught at Franklin High, Boykins High, Newsoms High and Southampton High Schools for many years. As a member of the educational organization Delta Kappa Gamma Society International since 1974, she served as president of Gamma Delta chapter and in other offices and committees. She was selected as Tidewater Coordinating Council Chair of Iota State. As a member of Boykins United Methodist Women and Boykins United Methodist Church, she served in various offices and committees. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Boykins United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hee Won Cho and Rev. Michael Baugham officiating followed by visitation and reception in the Fellowship Hall. A 4 PM graveside service will be held at Beechwood Cemetery following the reception.
