Mr. Cotton was a native of Southampton County but had resided in this section for the past 32 years. He was a retired employee of the Seaboard Air Line Railway Shops here. The deceased held membership in Jackson Memorial Baptist Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen of America. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. C. E. Archer, of Portsmouth; three sons, G. M. Cotton and Wilmer Cotton, both of this city, and Vernon Cotton, of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. Euriah H. Rawls, of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
