George L. Cotton  

George L. Cotton, 79, son of the late Allen H. Cotton and Mrs. Elmina C. Cotton, died this morning at 6:45 o'clock at his residence, 1712 Richmond Avenue, after a long illness.  

Mr. Cotton was a native of Southampton County but had resided in this section for the past 32 years. He was a retired employee of the Seaboard Air Line Railway Shops here.  

The deceased held membership in Jackson Memorial Baptist Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen of America.  

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. C. E. Archer, of Portsmouth; three sons, G. M. Cotton and Wilmer Cotton, both of this city, and Vernon Cotton, of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. Euriah H. Rawls, of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  

The body was removed to Snellings Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock on 17 December 1941.  

Interment will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery.
