Bennie was born July 16, 1936, in Southampton County, a son of Maggie Wells Cook and the late Robert H. Cook Jr. He retired as a truck driver for Murphy Brown’s in Waverly, was a former member of Ivor Vol. Fire Department, Ivor Vol. Rescue Squad, and a member of Ivor Baptist Church. Besides his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Bina ‘Bunnie’ Turner Cook; their son, Benjamin ‘Frank’ Cook Jr. and wife, Faye B. Cook, of Ivor; granddaughter, Karen Michelle Cook of Ivor; brothers, Robert H. Cook and wife, Nancy, John R. Cook and wife, Linda, Joseph F. Cook and wife, Delores, and Richard E. Cook and wife, Teresa; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas D. Cook Sr. and Nicky Cook. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 12, in Ivor Cemetery, Ivor, with the Rev. Steve Gupton officiating. The family will receive friends at their home in Windsor. Memorial donations may be made to the Windsor Vol. Rescue Squad or the Ivor Baptist Church. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, assisted the family with arrangements.
