Jessie Cobb Obituary Jessie Tomlin Cobb May 19, 1930 - February 14, 2024 Franklin - Jessie T. Cobb passed away early Tuesday morning, February 14, 2024 at Asa’s Garden, The Village at Woods Edge in Franklin, Virginia. As her earthly journey ended, we believe that she was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior as she transitioned to her heavenly home. She will always be in our thoughts forever in our hearts. Jessie’s husband, Raymond J. Cobb, their son, Keith Cobb, her parents, J. Rodgers Tomlin and Eunice Beale Tomlin, and her beloved sister, Elna Tomlin Kirkland, preceded her in death. Jessie was born in Norfolk, Virginia in 1930 and spent the majority of her life in the Black Creek - Burdette community near Franklin, Virginia. She attended Black Creek School and graduated from Franklin High School in 1947. Jessie graduated from the Fannie Webb Business School and she immediately began her first job with Whitley Hardware. It was there that she met her future husband, Raymond. They married in 1950 and celebrated their 60th anniversary before Raymond passed away in 2011. Together they had four children, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Jessie was a lifelong member of Black Creek Baptist Church where she was very active in activities and programs. She served on several Pastor Search Committees, the Homebound Ministry and completed many Bible studies including the two-year Discipleship Study, all of which deepened her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jessie was the secretary and bookkeeper for 20 years at Southampton High School where she was known for her excellence and attention to details. She made many life-long friends and was always happy to see former students who always remembered her. Jessie raised Monarch butterflies and became a resource teacher for area elementary schools. She sharing her experiences with friends in the community who went on to raise and release butterflies each year. Jessie T., as she was fondly known, loved being outdoors and she enjoyed gardening, raising flowers to give to friends, cooking, and sewing. She was an avid reader and a life-long learner. Jessie T. was always doing random acts of kindness and helping others in the community. She and Raymond were active members of the Southampton Ag Museum and enjoyed attending Community Concerts for many years. Jessie loved her family and extended family including her children Celeste Kelly (Pat), Tomlin Cobb (Karen) and Kevin Cobb (Robin). She was Nana to eight grandchildren, Kira Pulliam (Greg), Candice Lassiter (Stephen Davis), Brandon Cobb (Michelle), Dana Zebrowski (Mike), Lindsay Cobb (Sai), Krystle Cobb, Kacie Kiser (Ben), and Dustin Cobb, and a host of great grand-children. Jessie T. has nieces and nephews and cousins who were special to her. So long as we live, treasured memories will remain. There will be a graveside service Monday, February 19 at 11:00 in the Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
