Hazel Clark Obituary Hazel Shearin Clark March 27, 1932 - October 22, 2023 Branchville, VA - Hazel Shearin Clark, 91, best known as "Big Mama", passed away on October 22, 2023 in Moses Lake, WA. Born in Roanoke Rapids, NC, she was a daughter of the late Norman Walter Shearin and Lillian Little Shearin. She was also predeceased by her husband, Lewis Webb Clark; a daughter Deborah Clark Coker; a great granddaughter infant Elizabeth Leigh Stillwell; three sisters, Dorothy Davis, Evelyn Di Cologero, and Thelma Morgan; and two brothers, Norman and Winfield Shearin. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Judy Adams (Danny) of Moses Lake, WA, and Brenda O’Neal (Gene) of Edenton, NC; a son Lewis Kent Clark (Joyce) of Bloomingdale, GA; a sister, Edna Jones (Bobby) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and several nieces and nephews. She was very blessed with 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, all of whom she adored and loved with all her heart. Hazel, "Big Mama", married in 1948 and moved to Branchville, VA where they raised four children and several foster children. She was best known as a strong Christian woman and the love she showed to everyone. She enjoyed square dancing, clogging, playing cards, and quilting. Hazel enjoyed doing fundraisers to raise money to help in building the Branchville Baptist Church. She was very active in the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary until her health started to decline. Hazel, along with her husband, were the Stew Masters for the Fire Department in Branchville for many years. She was a woman of faith. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was happiest having all her family together for a meal and fellowship and will be truly missed. A funeral service will be held at 2PM Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home, 206 West 4th Ave., Franklin, VA with Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
