Julianne Cherry Obituary Julianne R. Cherry Portsmouth - Julianne Rawls Cherry, 77, passed away April 6, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Judie, a native of Norfolk, was a member of Green Acres Presbyterian Church. She was a sustaining member of the Portsmouth Service League, a former member of Elizabeth River Circle of C. H. K. D., and a dedicated blood donor for the American Red Cross with 100 units of life-saving gifts. Although she loved tennis, walking, the beach, and accompanying her husband Brad to Redskins games and outings on the boat, her main vocation was caring for and loving her husband, children and their families. Special thanks to her dedicated caregivers Phyllis, Faye and Anne who spent countless hours driving her to Chick-Fil-A and around town, supporting the family with unconditional love, being a constant companion and friend to her, and simply making her comfortable. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Bradford L. Cherry; three children, Leann C. Bakht and husband Shoaib, Lori C. Baccanari and husband David, Ross Cherry and wife Tara; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Doverspike and husband Adam, Monika Bakht, Elliot Baccanari, Stella Baccanari, Annabelle Baccanari, Savannah Cherry and Hayley Cherry; two great-grandchildren, Lucy and James Doverspike; a sister, Doris Jeanne Silva; nephew, Kenneth Silva; two step-brothers, Robert Burnell and wife Betty, Tommy Burnell and wife Pam; and step-sister, Gail Melchoir. Friends may join the family Friday, April 10 from 6 to 8 p. m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk. Burial will be 1:30 p. m. Saturday, April 11 at Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p. m. Saturday at Green Acres Presbyterian Church, High St. at Sterling Point Dr., followed by a Celebration of Life reception at 4:30 p. m. at Elizabeth Manor Golf & Country Club.
