William Carter Obituary William Wood Carter December 2, 1923 - March 14, 2015 Boykins- William Wood "Bill" Carter, 91, passed away March 14, 2015. Mr. Carter was a native of Wayne County, NC, a former resident of Richmond and a resident of Boykins for the last ten years. He was a son of the late Dee Wood and Mable Jane Mozingo Carter and was predeceased by two brothers Vernon W. Carter, Sr. and Roger Allan Carter. He was an Army veteran of WWII and served in the European theatre as a military policeman and at one time was one of General Dwight D. Eisenhower s guards. He had retired as a master cabinet maker with American Furniture and Fixture and Owen Suter Antique Reproduction Company, both in Richmond. He and Mrs. Carter are both members of Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Richmond. He was a kind, gentle, patient and humble man who always had time for his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 66 years, Marie Jarratt Carter, one daughter, Dr. Carolyn C. Modlin and husband Jimmy of Boykins, two grandchildren, Dee Modlin Clary and husband Jason of Rawlings, and Jim Modlin and wife Cassie of Sedley, three great grandchildren, Parker Collins Clary, Dawson Cole Clary and Carter James Modlin. The funeral will be conducted at 2PM Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel with the Rev. Michael Baugham officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Drewryville Cemetery.
