She was a native of Southampton County and was a daughter of the late Raleigh Milton Francis and Annie Spence Francis. She was also predeceased by her husband Charles William "Charlie Buck" Carter, two sisters, Bertha Johnson and Louise F. Bryant and four brothers, James, Gilbert, Robert and Milton Francis. Mrs. Carter was a 1947 graduate of Courtland High School and a graduate of the Euphradian Institute in Franklin. She was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Debra C. Bradshaw and her husband Burton C. "Brad" Bradshaw, Jr., two grandchildren, Burton C. (Tres) Bradshaw, III (Anne) and Lisa B. Biler and one great grandchild, Burton Cox Bradshaw, IV, sisters, Bessie Best ,Irma Heath , Jeannette Carlin , Marie Fowler and Rosa Lee Grant. A Funeral will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
