He was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and was a son of the late Bertie Corbitt and Arthur Clifton Carr, Sr. Mr. Carr was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Jr. and Hugh Carr. He was a retired farmer and crop insurance adjuster and was a twenty-year veteran of the Virginia National Guard. He was a charter member of both the Burdette Black Creek Ruritan Club and the Black Creek Hunt Club. Mr. Carr was a choir member, trustee, deacon, and longtime chairman of the cemetery committee of Black Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his three sons, Miles L. Carr, Jr. and wife Pam of Como, NC; Sammy Carr and wife Amy of Zuni; and Robby Carr and wife Dana of Franklin; seven grandchildren: Clifton N. Carr, Martin R. Carr, Rachel Lassiter, Katie Johnson, Bob Carr, Dakota Lettieri, and D.J. Lettieri; and four great-grandchildren: Carleigh Renee Lassiter, Colton Miles Carr, Keira Catherine Lassiter, and Emerson Blake Presson. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2011, in Black Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Kitts and Rev. Willis Switzer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
