He was the husband of the late Sally Raiford Carr and the son of the late James A. and Rebecca Carr of Isle of Wight County. He was a faithful member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church being one of its oldest members. He is survived by eight sons; Floyd A. Carr, Suffolk, Rochelle Carr, Atlanta, Ga. Lottie K. Carr, Bowers Hill, J. J. Carr, Leanus D. Carr, Joseph S. Carr, Wesley W. Carr, all of Norfolk and William K. Carr, of Walters; one daughter, Miss Anna O. Carr, of Walters, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one brother, Will E. Carr Norfolk and many nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the W. J. M. Holland and Sons funeral home in Franklin and on Friday [10 July 1953] will be placed in Mt. Carmel Christian Church one hour prior to funeral services which will be held from Mt. Carmel Christian Church, Friday at 4 p.m. [9 July 1953, Friday afternoon] in Walters. Rev. Ellis Clarke, pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
