Born in Franklin, he was a son of the late Joseph Robert "JR" Carr and Gertrude Carr. He was also predeceased by a brother, J. R. "Bobby" Carr and his wife Kaye. Al attended Franklin Public Schools and was a roofing contractor. Al was a free and easy spirit and a loyal friend to everyone. He is survived by two daughters, Chelsea Carr and Alison Carr of Wilmington, NC; a sister, Joyce C. Crandall (Sammy) of Falls Church, VA; his girlfriend, Denise Smith of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Al’s life will be held from 2 to 4PM Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home.
