Jonas Carpenter Obituary Jonas Perry Carpenter February 14, 1941 - April 15, 2023 Franklin - Jonas Perry Carpenter, 82, passed away April 15, 2023 in his home. Jonas was a native of Suffolk and was a son of the late Ernest and Susie Duck Carpenter. He was also predeceased by his wife, Betty Marie Barmer Carpenter, a son, Jonas P. Carpenter, Jr., a sister, Estelle C. Edwards, four brothers, Joe, George, Reuben, and Ernest Carpenter. Jonas was a retired machine operator in the Particle Board Plant for Union Camp and was a former employee of St. Regis Paper Co. and during his retirement was an attendant for the Isle of Wight County trash stations. Jonas had a very strong work ethic. Left to cherish his memory is a son, Christopher Noel Carpenter, a brother, Mack H. Carpenter (Connie), grandchildren, J.C. III, Brittany, Zachary, Tiffany and Angel, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday April 19, 2023 at 11 AM in Wright Funeral Home. The Burial will be at Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home one hour prior to the service and suggests memorial donations be made to any favorite charity.
