ANNIE BYRD LANKFORD Mrs. Annie Byrd Lankford, aged 62 years, widow of N. B. Lankford of Isle of Wight County, died Friday morning, 15 August 1947, at Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk, after an illness of a few weeks. Mrs. Lankford was the daughter of the late John T. and Mattie Hedgepeth Byrd of Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, and since the death of her husband had lived with her children. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. E. A. Gray of Norfolk, Mrs. Ray P. Oliver of Suffolk, Mrs. Clyde Vaughan of Carrsville, and Mrs. Archie Edwards of Windsor; five sons, O. L., H. A., and Clifton Lankford of Norfolk and Edward and Bernard Lankford of Carrsville; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. A. D. Holland of Suffolk. Funeral services were conducted at Beaver Dam Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon 17 August 1947 at 4:30 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. Cecil Clifton, and Rev. James White of Norfolk. Interment was in Beaver Dam Cemetery, with the following acting as pallbearers: Nat Edwards, Johnnie Stephens, Curtis Rhodes, Melvin Spivey, Ryland Duck, Randall Vaughan, Reginald Vaughan, and Garland Vaughan.
