CARRSVILLE, VA. - Solomon Valentine Butler, Sr., 72, deputy sheriff of Isle of Wight County for 35 years, died at his home Tuesday. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

He is survived by his wife. Mrs. Elizabeth Rose Butler; two daughters, Mrs. James R. Duck, of Franklin, and Mrs. William M. Williams, of Norfolk; a son, S. V. Butler, Jr., of Owens, Va., and five grandchildren. 

At the time of his death, Mr. Butler was a special officer of Isle of Wight County and the Camp Manufacturing Company.
