Born in Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the late Samuel Opherell Butler and Eulalah Minton Butler. He was also predeceased by two brothers, W. Lester Butler and Sam O Butler, Jr. Marvin was a 1953 graduate of Carrsville High School and a retired shipping clerk for the lumber division of International Paper with 45 years of service. He was a former Black Creek Ruritan and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. He was a very witty person who enjoyed fishing, bowling, softball and he loved Dr. Pepper. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Edna Newsom Butler; a son, Ronald Marvin Butler (Bonnie) of Franklin; two grandchildren, Kendall Butler (Allison) and Cole Butler; and a special cousin, Charles Butler. A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Inman officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Monday in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Black Creek Baptist Church.
