Francis Edward Burtis

Francis "Ed" Edward Burtis, 82, a lifelong resident of Annapolis, died March 19 at Gilchrist Center Hospice Care in Towson after a long illness.

He was born April 14, 1927 in Annapolis. He attended schools in the Annapolis area and the University of Maryland. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Ed was employed as an engineer with the Maryland Highway Administration.

Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Edith Cadell Burtis; his daughter, Jillian Hunter of Annapolis; and his sister, Claire B. Fowler of Annapolis.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Boulevard, Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment private.
