James Preston Brooks 2 OCT 1919 - 3 MAY 2005 HAMPTON - James P. Brooks, 85, went home to his Heavenly Father Friday, May 13, 2005. A native of Wilkensburg, Pa., he graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1949 and was a World War II veteran serving with the Army Air Corps. He had been a Hampton resident for the last 60 years where he was a member of Central United Methodist Church, a life member of the United Methodist Men, member and past president of the Wythe Exchange Club, and member of the Omicron Delta Kappa fraternity. Mr. Brooks was a Nationwide Insurance Agent for 20 years and retired in 1984. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jeanette B. Brooks; three children, Janice B. Barefoot, Bruce J. Brooks and Beth B. Suiter; his sister, Ruth B. Kroth; two brothers, George H. Brooks and R. Donald Brooks; seven grandchildren, Lisa B. Muckelroy, Jeffrey A. Barefoot, James A. Barefoot, Mike H. Brooks, Matthew R. Brooks, Angel I. Brooks and Rebecca J. Suiter; and eight great-grandchildren, Skylar W. Muckelroy, Rylee N. Barefoot, Camden J. Barefoot, Abby H. Barefoot, Paityn B.
