Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Branch Screws will be conducted today 14 October 1962 at 2:30 p.m. in the W. J. M. Holland Funeral Home by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of Franklin Baptist Church. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Screws died Friday afternoon 12 October 1962 in a Rich Square, N.C., nursing home. She was the widow of Bennett Screws and a daughter of Alexandria and Mrs. Susan Bradshaw Branch of Franklin, a lifelong resident of Franklin, and a member of Franklin Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, James Riddick Screws of Franklin; two brothers, Gurney W. Branch and Robert C. Branch of Franklin; a granddaughter and four great-grandchildren.
