Born in Washington, DC and a resident of Louisa County for 47 years, she was a daughter of the late Earl Shumake and Rosa Payne Yancey. She was also predeceased by her husband, Stanley Wayne Brady; a daughter, Cathy Brady Hoelzel; a sister, Maxine Sullivan; and a granddaughter, Ami Mundth. Betty was a graduate of Fluvanna High School, and worked for many years as a secretary for various government agencies. She enjoyed bingo with friends, crochet, tending her vegetable and flower gardens, and spending time with her grandchildren. Betty was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory is a son, Edward L. Brady (Tara); a son-in-law, Tim Hoelzel (Becky); six grandchildren, Michael Hoelzel (Bryon), Chris Hoelzel (Angelina), Brandy Nelson (Steve), Emma Brady, Ella Brady, and Rosa Brady; and four great grandchildren, Bostyn Hoelzel, twins Carter and Clay Mundth, and Cole Mundth. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday January 5, in Wright Funeral Home, with reception to follow at Black Creek Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at Grace Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Lousia, VA, at 2:00 pm, Saturday January 6, with reception to follow.
