She was a native of Isle of Wight County and had been resident of Norfolk for 26 years. She was the widow of Roscius B. Howell and a daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Beale Bradshaw. Mrs. Howell was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Isle of Wight County. In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Nelms, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. J. P. Duke, of Suffolk, and Mrs. Pearl Aumann, of Norfolk; three sons, Harvey H. Howell, Joel C. Howell and R. L. Howell, all of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Elisha Lankford, of Franklin; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
