FUNERAL OF SOLOMON J. BRADSHAW YESTERDAY The funeral of Solomon Joshua Bradshaw, who died on Thursday morning 01 Oct, 1925 at his home here, was held yesterday afternoon 02 Oct, 1925 at 2:30 o'clock from the First Baptist church, with services performed by the Rev. A. J. Dickinson, pastor. Interment was in Greenlawn. Bradshaw, who was employed for many years as stamp clerk in the postoffice, was known to practically every person living in Newport News and his hundreds of friends here recall as the outstanding characteristic of his life the gracious manner with which he met the public in his dally contacts. He was born in Isle of Wight county fifty-four years ago, the son of Luther Franklin Bradshaw and Mary Carr. He came to Newport News In 1891, accepting a position in the postoffice, where he remained until 1919, when he engaged in the insurance business. In 1920 he gained an interest in a farm in New York state, but the following year he yielded to a desire to return to his native state, and came back to resume the insurance business. His ill health was a matter of some months standing, but his condition did not become critical until several days before his death. In addition to the widow and one son. Franklin Pierce Bradshaw. Mr. Bradshaw is survived by two brothers and two sisters, as follows: Upshur Bradshaw, of Norfolk, Junlous Bradshaw, Windsor, and Mrs. W. J. Matthews and Mrs. M.cL. Bowden, both of Suffolk.
