Ellen Bovee Obituary Ellen B. Bovee Chesapeake - Ellen Barcik Bovee, 71, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday February 22, 2015. A native of Rochester, N. Y., she was the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Alice O. Barcik. Growing up in Syracuse, N. Y., she would meet the love of her life and marry her childhood sweetheart. She moved to Virginia in 1971 and became active in many organizations including the Western Branch Lions Club, where she was a charter member and past president. She was a Chesapeake Master Gardener, taught at Chittum Elementary School for 20 years, and was a member of the Church of the Resurrection. She loved her tennis group from the Portsmouth YMCA and loved to travel and spend time at her condo in Florida. She is predeceased by her two sisters, Nancy Briceland and Susan Barcik. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, George W. "Bud" Bovee; four children, Joe Bovee (Kim), Chris Wilson (Mark), James Bovee (Angela) and Melissa Lendi (Jay); five grandchildren, Dan Wilson, Erin Bovee, Ben Wilson, Jordan Bovee and Madi Wilson; and one brother Donald Barcik. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Drs. Sinesi, McGaughey & Bak and the staff at Sentara Norfolk General for their outstanding care and kindness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p. m. Wednesday February 25, 2015 in Church of the Resurrection, 3501 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA 23703 by the Rev. Jet Garcia.
