Roscoe Lee Boone  

PORTSMOUTH - Roscoe Lee Boone, 73, husband of Nettie Harcum Boone of 1930 Prentis Ave., died Wednesday [12 October 1960] at 8:30 a.m. after a long illness.  

He was a son of Henry N. and Mrs. Martha Mitchell Boone. A native of N.C., he lived in Portsmouth the last 42 years. He was a member of Elm Avenue Methodist Church.  

Besides his widow, he is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. John M. Garris of Portsmouth; daughter, Mrs. Stuart M. Richardson of Portsmouth; a son, Robert L. (Jack) Boone of Greenville, N.C.; two brothers, Walter G. Boone of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Lewis Boone of Portsmouth; a sister, Mrs. Charlie Johnson of Conway, N.C.; and four grandchildren.  

The body was taken to Snellings Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Elm Avenue Methodist Church Friday [14 October 1960] at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church an hour before the service.
