NEWPORT NEWS - Robert Simon Boone, 75, son of the late Jessie Porter Boone and Harriet
Piland Boone, died March 14, 1998. He had retired from Thomas J. Lipton Inc. after 25 years of
service as an electrician.

He was a native of Nansemond County, and the widower of Katherine Stringfield Boone. Mr.
Boone was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, member and past master of Suffolk
Lodge No. 30, A.F.&A.M., member and past worthy patron of Sinai Chapter No. 18 Order of the
Eastern Star, charter member of Suffolk Moose Lodge and past assistant scoutmaster of Boy
Scout Troop 30. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Betty Jo B. and William E. English of Suffolk;
son and daughter in law, Robert P. and Ruth Anne B. Boone of Portsmouth; loving companion
of 19 years, Margaret H. Davis of Newport News, and her family, Debra D. Burton and Lindsey
Burton and Wanda D. and Jim and Joshua Barnhart; brother, John P. Boone of Suffolk; five
grandchildren, Michael Boone of Richmond, Richard Boone and Robert Boone, both of
Portsmouth, and Stephen and Katherine English, both of Suffolk; three step grandchildren,
Robin E. Fuhrman and William F. English, both of Suffolk, and Melissa E. Horsboll of Windsor;
and four step great grandchildren, Jonathan Fuhrman, Jesse Fuhrman, Matthew Fuhrman
and Christina Lane, all of Suffolk.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at 2 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home with the
Rev. Norman Flythe officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery.
Friends may join the family Tuesday, March 17, 1998 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home and other times
at 5403 Pruden Blvd., home of Betty Jo B. English.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and Leukemia Society of America.
