Bennett, formerly of the Drewryville/Capron area of Southampton County, passed away March 19, 2013 at the Walter Reed Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester, VA. She was a native of North Carolina a daughter of the late Kelly Wells and Elsie Truitt Daughtry and was also predeceased by three sisters, Margaret Kirkpatrick, Edith Ray Powell and Emma D. Bennett. Mrs. Bennett was retired from the Southampton County Department of Social Services. Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn B. Mowen (Don), Di Anne B. Davidsen (John), and Kay B. Anthony (Alan); three sons, Charles L. Bennett (Annette), Kelly W. Bennett (Wanda), and D. Michael Bennett (Debbie); 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be held on Friday, March 22, at 12 noon at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
