Robert Lafayette Beaton 9 JUL 1904 - 10 AUG 1951 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rites Held Today For Water Victim Funeral services for Robert L. Beaton, of 8706 Hampton Boule vard, who was drowned in HampRoads last week and whose body was recovered Monday, were being conducted at graveside in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Franklin, today. The body will be taken the cemetery from the Holland Funeral Home, Franklin. Beaton lost his life Thursday when he went overboard he from the outboard motorboat was testing. Dr. Paul J. Parker, Elizabeth City County coroner said that death was due to accidental drowning. The empty motorboat was found some days before Beaton's body was recovered near Fort Monroe. Beaton had resided in Norfolk for 10 years, coming from Victoria. He was the son of Mrs. Mary Hartfield Beaton, of Sedley, and the late E. Hunter Beaton, and the husband of Mrs. Mabel Wriggleworth Beaton, of Victoria.
