FRANKLIN - A graveside service for W. Emory Beale, 81, who died Monday [16 Oct 1978] in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today [18 Oct 1978] in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Donald E. Trump.  

A native of Southampton County, he was a retired farmer and merchant. He was a member of South Quay Baptist Church and its Adult Bible Class, a charter member of the Holland Ruritan Club, and was a Navy veteran of World War I.  

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Irma Vaughan Beale; a daughter, Mrs. David O. Goode Jr. of Richmond; a brother, Walter M. Beale Sr. of Franklin; three sisters, Mrs. Janie B. Young of Courtland, Mrs. Laura B. Wood of Norfolk, and Mrs. Dora B. Gulley of Goldsboro, N.C.; and three grandchildren. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge.

W. Emory Beale, 81, of 7124 South Quay Rd., Suffolk, died Monday [16 October 1978] in Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Southampton County and the husband of Mrs. Irma Vaughan Beale and the son of the late Water Lee Beale and Mrs. Francis Matthews Beale. He was a retired farmer merchant of Beale's Corner. He was a member of South Quay Baptist Church, the Adult Bible Class, a charter member of Holland Ruritan Club, and a Navy veteran of World War I.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. David Goode Jr., of Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. Janie B. Young of Courtland; Mrs. Laura B. Wood of Norfolk; and Mrs. Dora B. Gulley of Goldsboro, N.C.; one brother, Walter M. Beale Sr., of Franklin; a niece, Mrs. Katherine Godwin of Crittenden; three grandchildren: Miss Charlene Goode; Thomas Emery Beale; and David Beale Goode of Richmond.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday [18 October 1978] at 11 a.m. in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, by the Rev. Donald F. Trump. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
