Born in Southampton County, he was a son of the late Hugh Patrick and Roberta Wellons Beale and was a retired vice president and co-owner of H.P. Beale and Sons Inc. of Courtland. An avid supporter of the Boy Scouts, he was a former Boy Scout leader and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver award. Mr. Beale was a member of the Governor's Council for Hiring the Handicapped and was a member of South Quay Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Betty Mehfoud Beale; a son, Michael R. Davis and his wife, Stephanie of Powhatan; and a sister, Louise Beale Rodgers and her husband, Stanley of Suffolk. He was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers, Inez Beale Tomko, Edith Beale Laine, Catherine Beale Gwaltney, E. Warren Beale Sr. and B. Hubert Beale. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in South Quay Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Alderman and the Rev. James Smith officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.
