He was the widower of Lena Moore Beale. Mr. Beale is survived by his sons, Benjamin Hubert Beale Jr. and his wife, Sandra Harrison Beale of Franklin, Gene Woodard Beale and his wife, Katherine Darden Beale of Courtland; a daughter, Phyliss Rivers Beale of Richmond; five grandchildren, Lisa Beale Francis, Benjamin Hubert Beale III, Katherine Rivers Beale, Gene Woodard Beale Jr. and Patrick Darden Beale; a brother, Fletcher Woodard Beale and his wife, Betty of Richmond; two sisters, Louise Beale Rodgers and her husband, Stanley, and Catherine Beale Gwaltney, all of Suffolk. He was predeceased by a brother, Etheldred Warren Beale and two sisters, Inez Beale Tomko and Edith Beale Laine. Mr. Beale was born on May 2, 1911, son of Hugh Patrick and Roberta Wellons Beale and was a lifelong resident of Courtland. He was President of H.P. Beale and Sons, Inc. and was a lifelong member and former trustee of the Grace Memorial United Methodist Church of Sedley. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Southampton Bank and Dominion Bankshares: Mr. Beale was a member of Courtland Masonic Lodge and the Khedive Shrine Temple in Norfolk. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, by the Rev. James Fox. The family will receive friends at the home of Gene and Katherine Beale, 16205 Ivor Road, Courtland, and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Grace Memorial United Methodist Church.
