Obituary of Annie Virginia Beale 26 OCT 1902 - 10 DEC 1969 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A funeral service for Mrs. Annie Beale Gillette was conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Smith of Franklin Congregational Christian Church and the Rev. Robert D. Fridley of High Street United Methodist Church. Burial took place in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were D.A. Gooden, Dewitt Phillips, Sheppard Johnson, Franklin Whitfield, Randolph Denson, Joe Gillette, and Donald Beale. Mrs. Beale, 61, passed away on Wednesday at Southampton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. A native of Southampton County, she was the wife of Joseph Lewis Gillette and the daughter of the late Reginald and Hester Beale. She was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church and a former employee of Jones-Hayes Co. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Fletcher of California and Mrs. Virginia Hatch of Franklin; a son, Norman Gillette of Franklin; and eight grandchildren.
