Bernard Bankos Obituary Bernard B. Bankos Chesapeake - Bernard "Bernie" Benedict Bankos, 89, passed away July 9, 2015 at his home. Bernie was born in Cementon, PA, the son of the late John and Anna Bankos, and was the widower of Margaret Pearson Bankos. He served in the U. S. Army in WWII and retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Computer Specialist with 35 years of service. Bernie was a Charter Member and Past President of the Churchland Lions Club and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Portsmouth. He was predeceased by a son, Paul, grandson, Britt and a brother John. Survivors include his wife, Jean Fletcher Bankos; a sister, Leona Wagner; a brother, Ronald Bankos; a step-son, Robert E. Fletcher (Cathy); a step-daughter, Marie Hatchell (Gordon); 4 grandchildren and a great grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a. m. on Monday July13, 2015 in St. Paul Catholic Church, 522 High St., Portsmouth, VA by the Rev. Jet Garcia. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p. m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA.
