Bailey Sr. IVOR - John Earl Bailey Sr., 72, died Wednesday [22 JAN 1986] at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. He was a lifelong Ivor resident and retired as a rural letter carrier in Ivor in 1984 after 26 years service. He also retied from from H. P. Beale & Son Co. in Courtland. He was a member of Ivor Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee and on the building and grounds committee. He also was a member of Ivor Masonic Lodge No. 291. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Betty Faircloth Bailey; two sons, J. Earl Bailey Jr., of Ivor, and Martin T. Bailey, of Dahlgreen; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine B. Brown, of Sedley, and Mrs. Frances B. Britt, of Waverly; a brother, Branch A. Bailey, of Ivor; and a grandchild. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday [24 JAN 1986] at Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. J. L. Buckingham. Burial will be in Ivory Cemetery, Ivor. The family will be at the home on Rawls Road in Ivor. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad or the American Cancer Society.
