Norfolk - Charles Edward Austin, 77, passed away Tuesday January 21, 2014. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late William J. and Hilda Austin and retired from Virginia Power as a safety supervisor and from the Army Reserves as a Brigade Command Sergeant Major with 35 years of service. 

Mr. Austin is survived by his wife Susan Austin; son, Warren E. Austin; grandchildren, Jacob and Kendall Austin and other family members Rick Byers and Stacy Surratt and their children Melissa and Taylor Surratt, Ricky and Rachel Byers and Logan Foley-Byers. 

A graveside service will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday January 25, in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery, 1549 Holland Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel is handling the arrangements and condolences may be registered at bakerfoster.com.
