He was born on July 4, 1947 in Norfolk, VA to Charles and Thelma Alexander, his loving parents who preceded him in death. Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Patsy Higginbotham Alexander; his daughter, Aimee Keyser Alexander; his sister, Charlene Fendley and husband John; mother in law, Maude Highinbotham; brothers in law, Douglas Higginbotham and wife Dorinda, Hal Higginbotham and wife Cathy along with 6 special nieces and nephews: Steven Fendley, Karen Longfellow (Tim), Mark Higginbotham (Colleen), Ashley (Pat), Sarah Kelley (Aaron), and Laura Holloway (Justin), 6 great nephews and 1 great niece. He also leaves behind many wonderful friends and his faithful companion, his golden retriever, Addie. Richard attended Princess Anne High School and then joined the United States Air Force. He graduated from Christopher Newport College in 1986. He worked at General Electric for 20 years. He also worked for several international startup companies as their general manager and had the opportunity to travel to Japan, Italy and the U. K. He was a faithful member and servant for over 30 years at Christ E. M. C. Church. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2 PM in Baker-Foster Funeral Home at 5685 Lee Farm Lane in Suffolk, VA with Pastor Larry Renfrow officiating.
