Obituary of Eleanor P. Williams ELEANOR P. WILLIAMS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - June 28, 2003 Eleanor P. Williams MURFREESBORO - Eleanor Payne Williams, 87, of the 600 block of East High St., died June 26, 2003. Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Murfreesboro and was a 1937 graduate of Chowan College, receiving a bachelor's degree in education. She taught elementary grades in the North Carolina public schools for 20 years, in both Chatham and Northampton counties. With her husband, she was co-owner of Williams Variety Store in Murfreesboro. Eleanor was a very active member of Murfreesboro United Methodist Church and was a member and past president of the Orpha Evans Bible Class and past member of the adult choir. She was a member and volunteer worker with the Murfreesboro Historical Society. She was also an enthusiastic member of several bridge clubs in Murfreesboro and played actively until her recent illness. Her husband, Ernest Newsom Williams, predeceased her. She is survived by her three children, Dr. E. Newsom Williams Jr. of New Bern, N.C., Gail W. Perry and husband Sam of Richmond, Va., and Charles W. Williams and wife Jane of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Kathryn P. Parrish of Courtland, Va. and Marguerite P. Pierce of Pikeville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Charles W. Williams Jr., Lindsay E. Perry and Ernest W. Perry; four stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Family visitation will be at Murfreesboro United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 313 High St., from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. A funeral will be held in the church Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev.
