Obituary of Reubin Clyde Whitley REUBIN CLYDE WHITLEY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, December 3, 1999 Reubin Clyde ``Punk'' Whitley, 76, died Dec. 1, 1999, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of North Carolina, Mr. Whitley was a son of the late Wilbert and Virgie Carter Whitley. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired machine tender with Union Camp Corp. He was a 50-year member of the American George Masonic Lodge No. 17 AF&AM of Murfreesboro, N.C., and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Marjorie Flythe Whitley; two daughters,, Katie Whitley Sloan and her husband, Bill, of Chester, Va., and Marge Whitley and her husband, George, of Nags Head, N.C.; a son, Carter Whitley and his wife, Fair, of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Landis Whitley of Portsmouth; and seven grandchildren, Carter Whitley Jr., Cy Whitley, Will and Joe Sloan, Sarah Whitley, Josh Sloan and Morgan Whitley. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in High Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Edward C. Johnson. Burial with military honors will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at High Street UMC Fellowship Hall.
