George Raymond Whitley Sr. 75, a retired farmer, died Aug. 20, 1994. 

Mr. Whitley was a native of Hertford County, N.C., and a member of Barnes United Methodist Church and the Newsoms Hunt Club. Mr. Whitley was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Drake Whitley. 

Survivors include one son, George Raymond Whitley Jr., and his wife, Vickie Perry Whitley of Snow Hill, N.C.; two brothers, Robert H. Whitley of Portsmouth and Frank Irvin Whitley of Franklin, and one grandson: Kevin David Whitley. 

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1994, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., with the Rev. Pat Tony officiating. The burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
