Garland Gene Whitley, 51, died July 11, 2004, at Obici Hospital.
Born Feb. 21, 1953, in Suffolk, he was the son of Garland Saunders and
Marjorie Gardner Whitley of Zuni. Mr. Whitley was preceded in death by
his sister, Janet Whitley Kello. Mr. Whitley was a member of Antioch
Christian Church and the Woodmen of the World-Walters Camp. He retired
from Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center as an
agriculture technician.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Grizzard
Whitley; daughter, Amber Karyl Whitley; cousin, Kim Parham;
brother-in-law, John Wayne Kello, all of Windsor; and several nieces and
nephews.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the graveside in Windsor
Cemetery by the Rev. Mark Habecker. The family will receive friends in
the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 604
Constance Woods Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434.
