Obituary of Challis Dawson Whitley CHALLIS DAWSON WHITLEY Virginian Pilot  04-26-2002 SUFFOLK  Challis Dawson Whitley, 66, of the 200 block of Grace St., died April 25, 2002, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Suffolk, he retired as a carpenter from Darden Egg Farm and was a member of First Baptist Church, Suffolk. He was the son of the late Henry Dawson Whitley and Lessie Franks Whitley. He was also predeceased by brothers, Gilbert H. Whitley and Wilson Whitley. Survivors include his sister, Ramona W. Sadler of Battery Park, Va.; brother, Frank M. Whitley of Suffolk and Mack S. Whitley of Isle of Wight County; an aunt, Elsie Mae Stubbs; nieces, Yvonne Johnson, Nona Mae Marshall, Lois Sadler, Pam Pantschychak and Amy Wood; nephews, Gilbert Whitley Jr., James C. Whitley, Michael Whitley, Ronald W. Whitley Sr., Mark Whitley, Donald Sadler and Danny Sadler; and cousins, Sue Crocker and Bob Mansfield. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson.
