Obituary of Wallace Edward Weems Sr. WALLACE E. WEEMS SR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 11, 2002 Wallace E. Weems Sr. RALEIGH - Wallace Edward Weems Sr., 90, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, in Raleigh. Born in Marietta, Ga., and reared in Roanoke, Va., he was a son of the late Andrew Murray and Helen Wood Weems. He retired in 1972 as an Internal Revenue agent with the U.S. Department of Treasury after 38 years of service. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 7th Army Corps of Engineers, 248th Engineer Combat Battalion in the North African and European theaters. A lifelong Episcopalian, he was an active lector and a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Norfolk. A former resident of Norfolk, he was a very active member of the Norfolk Exchange Club. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jeannette Rawles Weems, a former resident of Franklin, Va.; one daughter, Helen Weems Daley and her husband Tom of Cohasset, Mass.; one son, Wallace Edward Weems Jr. and his wife Sue of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Meg Farris, Mason Weems, Jenne Daley and Mamme Daley. A memorial and Eucharist service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Franklin. Burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery .
