Obituary of Garlon M. Watson GARLON M. WATSON Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 2, 2002 Garlon M. Watson WINDSOR - Garlon M. Watson, 82, owner and operator of Windsor Granary for 40 years, died Feb. 1, 2002, at his home. Born Dec. 13, 1919, in Lowland, N.C., he was the son of the late Randolph and Ludie Williamson Watson. Mr. Watson served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was in the first convoy to reach Hawaii after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a dedicated and devoted member of Windsor Congregational Christian Church. A 50-year Mason, he was a member of Purdie Masonic Lodge No. 170 in Windsor, 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite of Portsmouth and Khedive Temple of Norfolk. Mr. Watson, a life member of the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department, was a past president and 25-year member of the Windsor Ruritan Club. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Lila Watson; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda W. and Les Hall of Suffolk, Jill W. and Steve Copeland of Windsor; son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Donna Watson of Windsor; sister, Evelyn W. Charbenau of Williamsburg; brother and sister-in-law, R.E. and Virginia Watson of Bayboro, N.C.; andgrandchildren, Cristin and Jordan Hall, Dana and Ryan Copeland, Heather, Holly and Charles Watson. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Basil Ballard with burial in Windsor Cemetery . The family will be at their home on Shiloh Drive.
