SUFFOLK  Susie Everett Van Vlett, 84, died Jan. 29, 2002. Born Dec. 14, 1917, in Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen White Everett and widow of Frank L. Barrett. Mrs. Van Vleet was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church, a longtime employee of Smithfield Telephone Co. and retired from Central Fidelity Bank.
  Survivors include her sons, Algie Barrett of Suffolk, Judson Barrett of Chapel Hill, N.C; daughter, Alice Barrett Whitfield of Porland, Ore.; Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise E. Gwaltney of Hampton.
  A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. E. Clifton Whitlock with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 11:30 a.m. until service time.
