Obituary of Claude Robert "Bobby" Vinson Jr. CLAUDE ROBERT VINSON JR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - August 17, 2001 Claude Robert "Bobby" Vinson Jr., 59, devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 16, 2001, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born June 22, 1942, in Milwaukee, N.C., he was a son of the late Claude Robert Vinson Sr. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service since 1962 as a postal clerk for the Franklin post office. Previous to that he was employed by the A&P grocery store for 15 years and had been a member of the Franklin Baptist Church since 1952. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ricks Vinson; son, Claude "Tripp" R. Vinson III and wife Amy; daughter, Trina Vinson Stout and husband John; mother, Willie Grey Vinson, all of Franklin; a sister, Jean V. Old of Suffolk; three brothers, Carlton A. Vinson and Jerry D. Vinson, both of Franklin and Richard L. Vinson of Pompano Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Chad Robert Vinson, Courtney Dalton Vinson, Matthew Erskine Stout and Claudia Gayle Stout; and his "extended family" from his wife's daycare. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Franklin Baptist Church Sanctuary by the Rev. Dr. Donald Dunlap, the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins and the Rev. Sharon James. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery .
