Obituary of Martha Lankford Vaughan MARTHA LANKFORD VAUGHAN Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, June 17, 2004 Martha Lankford Vaughan, 92, widow of Clyde Vaughan, her husband of 57 years, died June 16, 2004, at Tandem Health Care of Windsor. A native of Isle of Wight County, she was a daughter of the late Napoleon Bynum and Annie Byrd Lankford and was also predeceased by a son, Richard Lee Vaughan and a granddaughter, Anita V. Foster. Mrs. Vaughan was a member of Windsor Baptist Church, the L.C. Hall Bible class and the Young at Heart Club. Survivors include two daughters, Jean V. Hicks and husband Wayne of Glen Allen and Peggy Rose of Suffolk; twin sons, Carl L. Vaughan and wife Ann of Brentwood, Tenn. and Clyde H. Vaughan and wife Shirley of Courtland; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Clyde H. Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and suggests that memorials be made to the Windsor Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 483, Windsor, VA 23487.
