Turner of Kempsville Heights died May 24, 2000, in Norfolk after a lengthy illness. Born in Southampton County, Va., she was a retired school teacher from the Virginia Beach School System, where she taught in the elementary classrooms. She received her B.S. in library science from Farmville State Teachers College, now Longwood. Mrs. Turner was a lifetime member of the Virginia Beach PTA; a retired member of the Virginia Beach Education Association; a member of the NEA and VEA; and a member of Old Donation Episcopal Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Bob S. Turner; a daughter and son-in-law, Trina C. and Watt Perley of Virginia Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank D. and Carol Childress of Statesville, N.C.; a sister, Antoinette B. Eaton of Virginia Beach; a brother, William H. Briggs of Newport News; three grandchildren, Kim H. Perley of Virginia Beach, David C. Childress of Asheville, N.C., and John A. Childress of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery , Courtland , by the Rev. Jim Browder. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.
